The very name Drakensberg, meaning “Mountains of the Dragons” in Dutch, reflects the imposing grandeur of the region.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities besides hiking, including fishing, cycling and horse riding. Wildlife encounters are common, with baboons and elands (large antelopes with distinctive curled horns) often seen here.
